TYPE OF POLLUTION.

WATER POLLUTION

Where do we get drinking water from? May be from a well, tank canal or river but the rain water which fills these sources. Water covers 70% of the earth and only 3% of fresh water. 1% of fresh water and 2% of frozen fresh water. Water pollution is an undesirable change in the state of water, contaminated with harmful substances. Any change in the physical, chemical and biological properties of water that has a harmful effect on living things is water pollution. The effect of water pollution are harmful to human beings, plants, animals, fish and birds. Polluted water also contains viruses, bacteria and other harmful microorganisms which can cause waterborne diseases such as diarrhea, dysentery, and typhoid.

AIR POLLUTION

Air pollution occurs when the air contains gases, dust, fumes or odour in harmful amounts. That is, amounts which could be harmful to the health or comfort of humans and animals or which could cause damage to plants and materials. The substances that cause air pollution are called pollutants. Pollutants that are pumped into our atmosphere and directly pollute the air are called primary pollutants. Primary pollutant examples include carbon monoxide from car exhausts and sulfur dioxide from the combustion of coal.Further pollution can arise if primary pollutants in the atmosphere undergo chemical reactions. The resulting compounds are called secondary pollutants. Photochemical smog is an example of this.

LAND POLLUTION

The contamination of land usually results from its commercial or industrial usage or from the spillage or dumping of waste, including landfill. These activities may have left elevated levels of heavy metals, hydrocarbons and other compounds on the land, and possibly in the groundwater. These may have the potential to cause harm to people or to the environment. The environmental quality team is responsible for inspecting sites in the borough for sources of contamination.

  1. In addition, there are several other types of contamination found in Malaysia, namely:

    1)Water pollution
    2)Air pollution
    3)Land pollution
    4)Noise pollution
    5)Light pollution or radiation
    6)Heat or thermal pollution
    7)Marine pollution

  4. beside that ..
Human act is a major source of environmental pollution, especially pollution of the sea. Now, many people set up settlements in the coastal areas. Residents are not responsible for making the sea as waste pembuanngan. Domestic waste such as waste cooking oil, detergents, and wastewater is channeled directly into the sea. This act resulted in the coastal waters become dirty and toxic. Aquatic life is affected. Declining water quality in the sea to kill wildlife art. Accidental oil spills at sea, especially among tankers carrying crude oil, a source of marine pollution. Sea is the main route for transportation of crude oil from exporting countries to importing countries.

  5. Water pollution means the changes in content, condition and color so it is not appropriate and will affect humans when used. This contamination occurred either in terms of biology, chemistry and physics. Pollutants can be found in various forms of gas, liquid and solid. Water pollution can occur anywhere where water. Therefore, water pollution is so widespread pollution as found in the world.

I think the problem of water pollution must be addressed immediately and that all people should be with the cleanliness of rivers and water that can be used safely. Love your river. ^_^

  6. Some forms of air pollution create global problems, such as upper atmosphere ozone depletion and global warming. These problems are very complex, and require international cooperative efforts to find solutions…So, we must appreciate our earth and take care of it. It is because, Earth is the only planet we know that has air and water. Without air and water, the Earth would be unable to sustain life. A diverse community of plant and animal life has thrived on this planet for millions of years, sustained by the sun and supported by the soil, water and air….

  9. yea..I agree with u...because water is a resource that can not be changed while other things can be replaced. without water we can not live. So we love the river and cut costs...hihihihi ^_^

  10. by the book "Environmental Management in Sabah: Issues and Challenge" (page 3): Air pollution may be defined as the availability of gas, liquid or particles contained in the air so that the changes that affect the life or other materials. Air pollution caused by vehicle exhaust emissions by area industries that release fumes or pollutants, and use a charcoal or wood is not regulated.

  14. New information about water poluttion...This water pollution is usually caused by human activities. Different human sources add to the pollution of water. There are two sorts of sources, point and nonpoint sources. Point sources discharge pollutants at specific locations through pipelines or sewers into the surface water. Nonpoint sources are sources that cannot be traced to a single site of discharge.
Examples of point sources are: factories, sewage treatment plants, underground mines, oil wells, oil tankers and agriculture.
Examples of nonpoint sources are: acid deposition from the air, traffic, pollutants that are spread through rivers and pollutants that enter the water through groundwater.
Nonpoint pollution is hard to control because the perpetrators cannot be traced.
